Short weekend…
Many days have passed since I last filled one of these pages, but I’m sure Karin would have had something to say if I had plunked myself down in front of my computer while she was here in Vancouver visiting me.
That’s right!
Karin was here last weekend! She came to visit me here in my lonely world. I picked her up at the airport on Friday and we went out for supper to celebrate her birthday. (She’s old now!) And I baked her a cake of which she only ate a little sliver. It must have been my cooking, right?
We only got caught in the rain once, and had fun exploring Granville Island. Twice.
But alas, the weekend was much tooooooo short and now Karin is back in Calgary and I am still here in Vancouver… sigh…
But enough of my whining…
I decided that rather than sit every night and stare at my walls I would attempt to get out and do some things. For example, this morning I broke down and registered in a course I have been looking at for a couple weeks. Starting in July I’m going to be taking an 8 week German language course at Langara College here in Vancouver.
Sure, you say, why the heck are you studying German??
The answer is complex and for the most part makes sense only to me, so that’s that.
And now my hands are a bit sore…
I was out at lunch and while meandering through Toys R Us I decided to buy a $6 basketball.
Needless to say you can’t buy a basketball and not use it. So I went out. I wandered through the neighborhood looking for a court, and when I finally found one that wasn’t packed with weiner kids shooting hoops, I tried to play but mostly I stood there looking stupid with a complete lack of skill.
A short story later, some guy named Cam came along and challenged me to one-on-one, and after a half an hour of abusive exercise, I was very tired and my hands were raw and bleeding from having planted myself on the sidewalk.
Sore… but tired and contented, am I.
And for later on…
I just got a call from the Scout Master for Kitsilano, and it seems I might be becoming a scout leader in the near future. I set up an interview for early next week, so we’ll see how it goes. Camping, and stuff… that could be fun, right?
