Another eventful working holiday.
What can I say? Five days and four nights in the big city — and yes, this time I actually made it in to the big city — is more than enough time to get into a little bit of trouble. None of it was my fault though — honest. What is it with these work trips that makes you jump out of your skin and exist as a transplant in the unreality that is your life? What does that even MEAN? Too much food. Too much beer. Too many times riding on the subway. Crazy nights in a hotel room with my crazy french roomie. Days spent hunkered over a computer filling my mind with dB and torturing the “prof” like a grade eight deliquent in front of my boss. Thoughts of grandeur. Ideas lost in the cold bitter Toronto air. Marching for peace. Drinking for redemption. Haunting the universe with people who should probably not be my companions on such adventures — and you know who you are — for better or for worse, but thank you for your time, energy, patience and whatever else that may bring. To quote: “Shit! I tell you what… in Quebec, we…” and I’m not even going to continue that.
Now? Home for a (brief) rest. Maybe. Holland next weekend.
