Quite Rain Day
Apparently the Gopher Story is making the rounds as folks forward the link or print it out to show people. I didn’t think it was particularly epic. Clever, perhaps. Epic? No. But in reading this blog you occasionally get a gem like that post — followed by a hundred more bits of drivel and worthless crap like this:
It’s raining. It’s raining off and on, as it always does. And I didn’t even get my whole garden planted. Really, I’m just missing the carrots and the beans (oh, and a few onions I didn’t quite get in) but now its raining.
I mowed the grass on Monday evening and it is doing great. It’s a lush green carpet of beautiful sod. This is definitely the summer of grass. It is a two-year-old lawn and it is awesome. Last year? It did okay. But the mice got to it bad so it took some months to get there. This year? Awe-some-ness!
Claire’s apple tree has blossoms. I wasn’t sure if the trees would do much this year but her tree — though not Sparkle’s tree — has a couple dozen pinkish-white blossoms. I don’t know how long to wait on the natural pollination, or if I should powder them by hand.
I planted an entire crop of basil this year. There is basil in pots. There is basil scattered amongst the tomatoes. There is even basil growing in coffee mugs on my desk at work. We couldn’t get enough basil last year. The three little plants we grew simply could not keep up. There will be no risk of that happening this year.
That’s about it.

Send the rain here. My lawn looks like it was torched because we really haven’t had rain this year, and it was a dry winter, too. Got my garden in last week, but with no rain, keeping it watered is quite a chore.
No. The title of this post should have been “Rain: HOORAY!”
You are so MEAN!!!!! Didn’t your Mom teach you to SHARE????? ***
Yes, I know. No, apparently she didn’t.
