WildFireTweets

After watching the smoke rise above the neighborhood next door, then trying to catch a glimpse of the fire from nearby roads, I finally found a non-stupid use for Twitter: I pulled out my computer and started tweeting back and forth with a dozen or so people who had a better view than I did, either because they had found a better locale to watch from and/or they we’re nearby with a mobile tweeting platform. Oi. What a wacky world.

Brad has listened to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy radio dramas so many times (a conservative guess would likely peg it at well over forty-two times, actually) that something of the absurdity found there is bound to have rubbed off on his writing here. Both blackberry and iphone have fairly good apps for mobile twitter. And, actually, the whole point of the thing — character limit included — is built around the idea of sending sms text messages to update your status.
