CIRA Campaigning: Over

Thanks to everyone who voted for me in my campaign attempt at running for CIRA. The latest phase closed late yesterday, and unfortunately I didn’t quite get “past the post” with the required shows of support. I haven’t heard officially, but I assume I didn’t get into the next phase.

On a plus note, I did nearly get (roughly) half the required votes, so to those of you who did put in the effort a great big THANK YOU, it was nice to see a number much larger than ZERO.

For the rest of you who asked how you could help — and whom I regretfully explained: you need to own a dot-ca domain name, and join CIRA, et cetera, et cetera — you have about eleven and a half months to start your new website, buy your domain, join CIRA, get ready to support me if I try again in 2012.

Also, if you ever do have the opportunity to run for a board and participate in a small-p political process, I encourage you to do that, too. It’s an interesting learning experience, and I’m sure I’ll have even better success next time I try for something like this.
